Temple of Montu The temple was built during the period of Amenhotep III. This great monument failed to
conquer time and is mainly ruined and aged. It is not currently open to the public. Montu was
the chief god of Thebes. Soldiers used to ask for Montu's blessings before any battle to
protect the great ancient city of Thebes. The temple is situated after passing the gate of the
great precinct which is opposite to the main entrance of Temple of Ptah. Outside the temple, a
visitor will admire the greatness of the Ptolemaic gateway of the precinct.
